AMTP’s 2025-26 Season
Under the leadership of new AMTP artistic director Masi Asare, the 2025-26 academic year brings an exciting slate of newly created programming that celebrates and supports the creation of new musicals while immersing Northwestern students in the professional new work process. In Fall 2025 we launched a brand-new, weekly writers workshop for Chicago-based musical theatre writers and composers, who work alongside an ensemble of student performers, assistants, and observers. Winter 2026 will bring a new musical revue by one of Chicago’s foremost musical dramatists, Cheryl Coons. And we will host Jonathan Larson Award-winning musical theatre writer and composer Julian Hornik for our first ever artist research residency, connecting him with faculty and staff expertise as he researches his latest musical-in-progress and leads a master class for students.
